Statement of Objective: The purpose and aims of the Salt Lake Branch of the NAACP shall be to improve the political, educational, social and economic status of minority groups; to eliminate racial prejudice; to keep the public aware of the adverse effects of racial discrimination; and to take lawful action to secure its elimination, consistent with the efforts of the national organization and in conformity with the articles of Incorporation of the Association, its Constitution and By-Laws and as directed by the National Board of Directors.

    If you live in and or work in the Salt Lake Branch jurisdiction, we encourage you to join, attend and become involved with the oldest civil rights organization in the country. The vision and commitment of our dedicated volunteers continues to carry the torch of freedom for everyone.

Regular Annual Membership:

Regular Adult $30.00
Youth with Crisis $15.00
Youth without Crisis $10.00

Silver Life $750.00
(Full amount or yearly payments of $75.00)

Gold Life $1,500.00
(Full amount or yearly payments of $150.00)

Diamond Life $2,500.00
(Full amount or yearly payments of $250.00)

The Silver, Gold and Diamond Memberships are prerequisite.

Annual Corporate $5,000.00

Important Tax Information:
Gifts and contributions to this NAACP Branch are not deductible as charitable contributions. However, a portion of dues is passed on to the NAACP National Organization and these payments are tax deductible.
Example: For an Adult membership of $30.00, $11.85 is tax deductible or for a fully paid Silver Life Membership of $750.00, $414.00 is tax deductible.

There are memberships for youth, adults, organizations, churches and corporations. You too, can make a difference.

If you would like to become a member of the NAACP, make certain that the person soliciting memberships in the name of the NAACP are officials from the NAACP Salt Lake Branch. If there are any doubts, call the Branch at (801) 250-5088 or mail your check to the address above.

NAACP SALT LAKE BRANCH

  • Standing Committees:
    Armed Service & Veterans' Affairs, Communications, Community Coordination, Economic Development, Education, Finance, Freedom Fund, Health, Housing, Labor and Industry, Legal Redress, Memberships, Political Action, Press and Publicity, Prison, Religious Affairs and Youth Work.

    All Chairs shall be appointed by the President. The members of all Standing and Special Committees, except the Nominating Committee shall be appointed by the President in consultation with the Committee Chairpersons.

  • The President is the only official spokesperson for the Branch.

  • Meetings:

General Membership Meetings: The NAACP Civil Rights Organizations General Membership monthly meetings are open to members and potential members and held at the Law and Justice Center, 645 South 200 East on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. If the first Monday is a holiday, the meetings are held the second Monday.

Executive Committee Meeting:
The NAACP Civil Rights Organizations Executive Committee meets on the third Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Utah State Bar Law and Justice Center, 645 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
